On the occasion of International Tiger Day celebrated on the 29th of July, SLTP partners organized various awareness activities for school students living around the Tiger Reserves they are operating in.

Bombay Natural History Society: Organized nature drawing competition in 40 schools of Chandrapur district.

Satpuda Foundation: An audio-visual presentation, lecture and interactive discussion session were arranged for school students in Sawara village, located in the buffer area of Pench Tiger Reserve, Maharashtra.

Baavan: Organised storytelling, tiger face mask making, and drawing competitions for school students around Panna Tiger Reserve.

The Corbett Foundation: Organised presentations, screened a documentary, and conducted a quiz and essay recitation for school students living around Kanha Tiger reserve.

These fun-filled awareness sessions, organized to sensitize communities about wildlife conservation issues, were well received by the students who live in close quarters with wildlife.
“We want to paint and showcase the tiger and it’s surroundings as perceived by us. We regularly see tigers and other wildlife. For us living in a village adjoining a tiger reserve is a privilege and it is our responsibility to protect our wild neighbor. Vaagh maza sagaa soyara (the tiger is my close relative)!”, a young student of class 8 from the school said during one of the programs.
